Phil Ivey has been referred to as the number one poker competitor in the world by quite a few of the top professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before his first birthday. His grandpa introduced him to one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wished to discover every little thing he possibly could about the game. He routinely told his parents that he was going to be a professional poker player. He did not permit the negative comments from others annihilate his dream of being one of the strongest poker players on the planet.
Phil started competing seriously after acquiring a false ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his abilities at the casinos of Atlantic City. The initial number of years for him were a teaching opportunity and coming away with a win wasn’t a common thing at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 WSOP when he achieved 2 final tables and came away with his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the final table he destroyed a number of the well known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He made a decision to take his game to the successive level and headed out west to Sin City. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to hard work and a continuing love for poker. He says that he’s learning every day and is incredibly abashed about his accomplishments. He admits to making blunders in each session of poker and constantly aspires to get better.
Although Phil has come first in some big tournaments, he likes destroying cash games on a normal basis.
