Phil Ivey has been branded as the number one poker player in the world by quite a few of the top-ranked professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before reaching turning one. His papa taught him one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was hooked on poker and wanted to pickup everything he possibly could about poker. Phil would tell his grandparents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. Phil began competing intently after getting a false ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his abilities at the casinos of Atlantic City. The initial number of years for him were a learning period and coming away with a win wasn’t a normal outcome at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he achieved two final tables and won his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the last table he defeated quite a few of the well known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He decided to take his skills to the next level and headed out west to Las Vegas. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Phil credits his success to dedication and an eternal passion for the game of poker. He states that he is picking up skills every single day and is very humble about his success. Phil admits to making blunders every single game of poker and always aspires to get better.
Despite the fact that Ivey has come first in some big tournaments, he likes destroying money games on a regular basis.
