Phil Ivey has been labeled as the best poker player on the planet by quite a few of the top-ranked pros. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before reaching turning one. His grandpa taught Phil penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was hooked on poker and wished to discover whatever he could about the game. Phil routinely told his elders that he was planning on being a professional poker player. He did not allow the detrimental feedback from other people annihilate his goal of becoming one of the best poker competitors on the planet.
Phil began competing intently after acquiring a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his game at the casinos in Atlantic City. The first few years for him were a learning experience and winning wasn’t a normal thing at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 WSOP where he achieved 2 final tables and came away with his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the last table he defeated many of the better known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil made a decision to take his skills to the next level and headed out west to Vegas. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Phil credits his success to hard work and an eternal love for poker. Phil says that he is learning every day and is very humble about his accomplishments. He admits to making blunders every single game of poker and always strives to get better.
Despite the fact that Phil has won some big tournaments, he favors destroying cash games on a normal basis.
