Phil Ivey has been branded as the greatest poker player on the globe by quite a few of the top-ranked pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before reaching turning one. His papa taught him penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was addicted to poker and wished to discover every little thing he possibly could about poker. He would tell his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t let the negative comments from other people annihilate his goal of becoming one of the best poker competitors in the world.

Phil began competing seriously after getting a false ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his abilities at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The initial few years for Phil were a learning period and coming away with a win wasn’t a regular outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 WSOP where he made two final tables and won his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the closing table he destroyed quite a few of the well known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his game to the next level and moved out west to Las Vegas. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to dedication and an undying love for poker. Phil states that he’s picking up skills every single day and is quite humble about his success. Phil knows he makes errors in each game of poker and always strives to get better.

Even though Ivey has won some big-time tournaments, he prefers winning cash games on a normal basis.
