Phil Ivey has been branded as the greatest poker player on the globe by many of the top-ranked pros. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before his first birthday. His papa taught him penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was addicted to poker and wanted to pickup everything he possibly could about the game. Phil routinely told his elders that he was going to be a professional poker player. He didn’t allow the adverse comments from other people destroy his goal of being one of the greatest poker players on the planet.

Phil began playing intently after acquiring a false ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his skills at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The initial few years for him were a teaching period and coming away with a win was not a common outcome at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he achieved 2 final tables and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the final table he defeated quite a few of the well known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He decided to take his skills to the next level and headed out west to Vegas. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Phil credits his achievements to dedication and an eternal love for poker. Phil states that he’s learning every single day and is incredibly humble about his success. Phil admits to making errors every single game of poker and constantly aspires to improve.

Although Ivey has come first in some big-time tournaments, he likes destroying cash games on a regular basis.
