Phil Ivey has been referred to as the greatest poker competitor on the planet by many of the top professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before reaching the age of one. His papa taught him one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to pickup everything he could about poker. Phil would tell his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil did not allow the negative feedback from others annihilate his ambition of being one of the strongest poker players on the planet.

He started playing intently after getting a false ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his skills at the casinos of Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for Phil were a teaching period and winning wasn’t a normal outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made 2 final tables and came away with his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the last table he defeated quite a few of the better known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He decided to take his skills to the next level and moved out west to Sin City. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Phil credits his achievements to dedication and an immeasurable love for the game of poker. Phil states that he’s picking up skills every single day and is quite abashed about his success. Phil knows he makes blunders every single game of poker and always aspires to improve.

Even though Ivey has won some big tournaments, he prefers winning cash games on a normal basis.
