Phil Ivey has been labeled as the best poker competitor on the globe by most of the top-ranked professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before reaching the age of 1. His grandpa taught Phil penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was hooked on poker and wished to discover every little thing he possibly could about poker. He routinely told his grandparents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. He did not allow the negative comments from others annihilate his goal of becoming one of the greatest poker competitors on the planet.
He began competing intently after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his skills at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The initial number of years for Phil were a learning opportunity and winning wasn’t a common thing at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 WSOP when he achieved two final tables and came away with his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the closing table he defeated quite a few of the well known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He made a decision to take his skills to the next level and moved out west to Las Vegas. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to hard work and an immeasurable passion for poker. Phil states that he’s picking up skills every single day and is quite humble about his accomplishments. He knows he makes blunders in each session of poker and constantly aspires to improve.
Despite the fact that Phil has won some big-time tournaments, he favors destroying money games on a regular basis.
