Phil Ivey has been labeled as the best poker competitor on the globe by most of the top-ranked professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before reaching the age of 1. His papa introduced him to penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was hooked on poker and wished to pickup every little thing he could about the game. Phil routinely would tell his grandparents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. He did not permit the adverse comments from others kill his dream of becoming one of the greatest poker competitors on the planet.
Phil began competing seriously after acquiring a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his techniques at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The first number of years for him were a learning opportunity and winning wasn’t a normal outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 WSOP where he made 2 final tables and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the last table he defeated many of the well known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil made a decision to take his game to the successive level and moved out west to Sin City. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Phil credits his achievements to discipline and an undying passion for poker. Phil says that he’s learning every single day and is quite humble about his achievements. Phil knows he makes blunders in each game of poker and constantly strives to get better.
Despite the fact that Phil has come first in some large tournaments, he likes winning cash games on a normal basis.
